Shoprite keeps winning
There’s a lot for you to sink your teeth into this morning, but there’s something important to cover before we get to Ghost Bites.
If you are receiving this in Outlook and it’s going to your junk folder, then PLEASE mark it as safe and add this sender to your address book. My understanding is that Outlook considers the behaviour of everyone receiving the mailer. With the new domain still warming up, it would help tremendously if you tell Microsoft that you do in fact want to receive Ghost Mail.
Now, with that out the way, I bring you two editions of Ghost Bites. One was released yesterday afternoon, while the other covers another set of updates that came out yesterday (including epic numbers at Shoprite).

The market celebrated the latest Shoprite update
Please note: I need to read Weaver Fintech in much more detail than I had time for since the results came out, so that’s been bumped to a later edition of Ghost Bites (along with Resilient). As mentioned before, I’m taking a different approach to this earnings season where I give myself more time.

Global markets update with Shaun Murison
CoreWeave and Super Micro Computer results highlighted increasing demand for computing capacity to support AI. The news supported renewed appetite for tech, which led gains on Wall Street overnight, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq firmer on the day while the Dow traded more or less flat.
US and European futures markets, as well as most Asian equity markets, are slightly firmer today, with gains in tech leading the way.
US CPI data, while still higher than the Fed's target, came in line with expectations yesterday, and together with recently released softer than expected nonfarm payrolls data, appears to have lowered the probability of a September rate hike.
The dollar firmed yesterday although it is marginally softer in early trade today. Gold is trading flat this morning.
Oil prices are slightly lower on decreased demand expectations, despite the deadlock in US Iran talks.
The rand is tracking sideways around its best levels since May this year against the dollar. We expect a flat to slightly negative start for the JSE All Share Index.
