Brait wants R2.5bn
Good morning {{first_name}},
If you’re surprised by how different the mailer looks this morning, that’s because you are part of the group that moved across to the new system this morning. This is day 2, so don’t feel too bad about missing out!
I received tons of feedback yesterday, most of which was positive.
I completely understand how overloaded we all are with information, so my goal is to keep Ghost Mail as clean as possible. It’s simple, really - the Ghost Bites you know and love, plus a few podcasts and other learning opportunities. Remember, by engaging with brand partners, you are helping to make Ghost Mail possible.
Please keep the feedback coming! I’m learning all the time and will try and implement changes where it makes sense to do so.

Generally speaking, a value unlock strategy involves a company sending money back to shareholders. At Brait, it’s the other way around at the moment, with the company asking shareholders for R2.5bn! Global markets update with Shaun Murison
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed firmer as solid results from big banks and a lower than expected inflation print supported risk appetite despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
IBM shares fell 25% on the day, its worst session on record, after the group's second quarter results missed expectations. The company attributed the shortfall to weakness in its Z performance and the associated software stack, primarily in Transaction Processing, as clients redirected capital expenditure toward servers, storage and memory ahead of anticipated price increases.

Asian markets are mostly higher, with the Nikkei, Kospi and Hang Seng all firmer on the day following semiconductor led overnight gains in the US. China is underperforming regional benchmarks after second quarter GDP growth slowed to 4.3% year on year, short of the 4.5% consensus and down from 5.0% in the first quarter.

Oil prices remain elevated as talks between the US and Iran yield little progress and bombing continues.
With US and European futures up and most of Asia firmer this morning, we expect the JSE All Share Index to follow suit at open. The rand remains firm against a slightly softer dollar.
